March 29/San Francisco Day 1

It poured all morning, but we had a full day of sightseeing today!

First, we went down to the Ferry Building for the farmer’s market. We had Blue Bottle coffee, tamales, and loco moco for breakfast then walked around through all the shops inside to dry off.

Next, we walked up through Levi’s plaza to the Filbert stairs, leading up to Coit Tower.

These secluded gardens are one of my favorite places in San Francisco. We’ve visited Coit Tower every time we’ve been to San Francisco, but this was our first time walking up the Filbert stairs.

Unfortunately, Coit Tower was closed for renovations, so we carefully walked down the slick hill to Little Italy and Chinatown. We made a quick stop for a boba pick-me-up and checked out the City Lights Bookstore.

We had a couple landmarks/key places we wanted to visit, but this being our third trip here together, we planned on being spontaneous (is that allowed?). Next, we visited the Cable Car Museum and spent a good hour and a half trying to catch a cable car to Fisherman’s Wharf.

We walked to the edge of Fort Mason for a view of the Golden Gate Bridge then visited all three Ghiradelli shops for free samples. We needed sustenance in the form of chocolate!

After a long day of wet feet and a lot of walking, we thankfully caught a bus (we got the MUNI 3-day passport-so worth it!) back to our apartment (rented through AirBnB). We were in the mood for sushi, and after hearing some great recommendations, we stopped at Owl Tree for a drink before dinner at Ryoko’s, an underground sushi bar in “Tendernob”. It was fantastic and a great end to our busy day!
